Tuesday, December 6 - Holiday CPR Class for Parents

This class features the "Family & Friends CPR Course" content from the American Heart Association. It teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a fun, dynamic group environment by using the AHA's research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the hands-on CPR practice time using the industry's best manikins. You are welcome to bring your kids - we will have a holiday craft sponsored by Macaroni Kid Chicago Loop to keep the kids entertained during class.

During the holiday season, a six-car 'L' train transforms into a magical vehicle decked out with thousands of multicolored lights, red bows, garland, and red and green interior lighting. As the train pulls into each station, Santa waves to the boarding passengers from his sleigh on an open-air flatcar carrying his reindeer and decorated holiday trees.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 Young Artists Competition at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, presented by Fidelity Investments.  Applicants must be instrumentalists or vocalists between 13 and 19 years old. The final round of the competition will be a live audition at Symphony Center on Sunday, February 12, 2012. The grand prize offers the winners an opportunity to perform on stage in Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center during a Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert. The winner also receives six tickets for family and friends to attend the June CSO concert, professional photos of rehearsal and performance on stage at the concert, and a $100 Visa Gift Card.

Created to complement the 175th anniversary of Chicago's founding, this "circus with a purpose" will have a strong hometown feel, featuring cameo appearances by an assortment of famous and infamous Chicago area historic figures. 80% of net ticket sale proceeds will go to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities(r) of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana and the Special Olympics Chicago.
