More options for families affected by the CTU strike

Bash Sports Academy: If your young ballplayer is affected by the strike, send him to BASH. Camp will be 9-3 with instruction all morning and games all afternoon. Ages 7-12.

The Chicago Park District offers camp-style activities for children in half and full day options from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Space is limited, and parents must register their children at the park sites. Students will participate in camp-type activities such as sports, arts and nature activities. No meals are provided at these sites.

Enjoy Shakespeare among the trees in September. In the bard’s The Tempest, Prospero and his daughter are shipwrecked on an enchanted island when another ship crashes and the crew struggle ashore. Watch what happens when Prospero encounters the spirits Caliban and Ariel, and employs their magic for his own personal gain.

Tuesday, September 18 - FARMERS MARKET

Every Tuesday the MCA hosts the City of Chicago Farmer's Market, from June 5 to October 23, on the plaza from 7 am to 3 pm.Vendors at the European-style outdoor market offer a colorful variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, cut and potted flowers, baked goods, cheeses, spices, and more. Out of the more than 30 popular Farmers Markets throughout Chicago, the MCA's is the only one in the Streeterville area.

Sunday, October 28 - HALLOWEEN MAGIC 2

The Magic Dentist, Dr. Mark Kaschube, is putting on a show full of spooky Halloween tricks along with his ensemble of mischievous tricksters. Presented by Orange Crush, the Village of Rosemont and the Grand Dental Group, this show is guaranteed be a fun-filled Halloween experience for the entire family. Also on the program is one of the most original an astounding magic acts ever seen on the stage, “Quick Change,” featuring the astoundingly quick costume change act of David Mass and Dania Kaseeva.    All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Salute, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides financial support for military men and women and their families.

Chicago Trolley Co. celebrates the holiday season with their enchanting “Holiday Lights Tour,” bringing the magic of the city to life as passengers experience the thrilling lights and sights of Chicago. Chicago’s version of a caroling sleigh ride whisks passengers through the festive lights and holiday spectacles of wintertime in Chicago, including views of the Magnificent Mile, State Street & Macy’s Holiday Windows, the John Hancock Plaza tree, Navy Pier’s Winter Wonderfest, Buckingham Fountain; and stops at two of Chicago’s favorite holiday sights—the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza and Lincoln Park’s Zoo Lights.
