Fit By Forty: Q & A
By: Shawna Schwalb, Positivecaring Co.
I worked with Shawna Schwalb of Positivecaring Co quite a bit this winter and learned so much about health and nutrition. Here are some great tips from her....
If anyone has any insight to why I would be so bloated all of the time I would love to hear. Lately, it doesn't seem to matter what I eat I look like I am pregnant. I am 54 years old, eat pretty much a vegan diet accept for an occasional piece of fish or an egg. I am not a vegan but eat mostly vegetables and fruits. I am type O- blood but I don't eat much animal products . I eat nuts, beans, legumes, chia seeds, flax seeds etc. I am not in menopause but perimenopausal. What is happening to me? I am 5'3 inches tall and weigh around 112-114 depending on how bloated I am. What can I do about this bloat? It is so uncomfortable. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.--Liz
It sounds like a gluten sensitivity or another food sensitivity problem (not allergy). Bioset chewable digestion enhanced with gluten digestion taken every day (as much as you can handle) will eliminate gluten sensitivity. Try one Benedryl a day if it gets bad. It could be that you need to take magnesium every day too.
I am looking for some feedback about iodine supplementation. My internet searching has been leading me in circles. I was amazed when I found some articles and reviews about the benefits some people had when supplementing with iodine. I just started working with women with infertility issues and in working with women in general the same symptoms keep coming in--anxiety, constipation, can't sleep, foggy brain. This can mean a whole host of things--auto immune, allergies, thyroid, hormones, you name it. I normally stay away from recommending excessive supplementation and stick with cleaning up their diets and creating good habits but when it comes to infertility I was told that iodine has been successful locally in supporting the thyroid and helping reproduction. The controversy is if there is not a deficiency adding iodine can cause more damage.--Felicia
For fertility, but also for any estrogen dominance or chronic pain syndrome, 1/4 tablet of iodoral per day and infused candida to cleanse. This amount can't hurt you. Take 200 mg selenium to avoid any problems. It definitely helps you sleep and calms the body.
