Go, Improv, Go!

Second City brings improv to kids with this fun show!

June 26, 2014
When most adults think Chicago comedy, they think Second City. For over 50 years, Second City has been known for their sketch comedy, improv shows and famous alumni. But did you know they also do improv for kids? Go, Improv, Go is a great way to introduce your Macaroni Kids to improv!

I saw the show recently with my Macaroni Kid and he loved the superhero themed improvs. Based on suggestions from the audience, 4 of the superhero actors tried to stop the actor playing the villain from stealing all of the world's cheese! (No scary scenarios here! This is comedy!) My son and the rest of the young audience laughed and clapped along to the various improv games. And they all loved the audience participation!

As a mom, I loved the creativity shown both onstage and from the kid participants. My son was really inspired by the improvisations he saw and after the show he kept "flying" like a superhero and making up stories! Like they said several times in the show, "GO, IMPROV, GO!"

Go, Improv, Go is great for kids 5 and up and is running on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11AM through July 31 at Up Comedy Club. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online.

Disclosure: I was given 2 tickets to the show to facilitate this review, but as always, all opinions are my own.
