Happy Halloween!

October 28, 2010

Can you believe October is almost over?  I feel like it should still be August, yet here we are rapidly approaching Holiday season!

And the first holiday is upon us this weekend--Halloween!!!  How are you and your family celebrating this year?  Any great parties?  Creative costumes?

We spent last Sunday at Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm in South Barrington and had a wonderful time petting the animals, riding ponies (okay, my son actually didn't like that part, maybe next year!), taking wagon rides and of course, seeing lots and lots of pumpkins (or punkeens as my 16 month old calls them!) We also took advantage of their great market and brought home decorative gourds, delicious apples, apple cider donuts and pumpkin (punkeen) seeds--yummy!

This week my little guy has FIVE Halloween parties from Friday to Sunday (I wish I had such an exciting social calendar!), so his Halloween costume is going to get quite the workout!  I'll be sure to post costume pictures on my Macaroni Kid Facebook page and I'd love to see yours as well!

This Sunday I am hosting a table at Treat Street, a safe, non-scary alternative to trick or treating.  Come by the Daystar School at 1550 S. State Street from 3 - 5 and visit the various tables for yummy treats!  I'm especially excited about my table, because the kind folks at popchips have given me tons of bags of their delicious chips to pass out to the trick or treaters!  A little salty to go with all of the candy sweet--mmmmm!  If you make it to Treat Street, please drop by the Macaroni Kid Chicago table to say hi and grab a bag of these yummy chips!

We also plan to drop by the Prairie District Neighborhood Association's Children's Halloween Party at the Glessner House on Sunday.  Should be a fun day and I should officially need a nap and to go on a diet by the time all of the Halloween festivities are over!  Ha!

So tell me about your Halloween plans, costumes, what kind of candy do you give trick or treaters?  I love learning more about this Macaroni Kid community!

Happy Halloween!
