Chinese New Year Treat

The Mandarin Orange

By Nicki Hemby January 27, 2011

During Chinese New Year, Mandarin oranges are considered traditional symbols of abundance and good fortune. Throughout the two-week celebration, they are offered as gifts to friends and family and often displayed as decoration.

Oranges are the perfect source of vitamin C and flavanoids.  One orange supplies nearly 100 percent of the recommended daily dietary intake of vitamin C.  Eating an Orange provides your body with good dietary fiber.  They are also a good source of vitamin A, B vitamins, amino acids, potassium, folic acid, calcium, chlorine and iron!

What a wonderful way to celebrate!
