CHICAGO CHILDREN’S MUSEUM HAS GOT MATHEMANIA

By Hosted March 30, 2016
Chicago Children’s Museum is kicking off Spring Break with Mathemania, a program dedicated to inspire the love of math through play. Children are natural mathematicians. Play-filled opportunities to sort, count, measure, compare, match and problem solve lay the groundwork for math abilities and give them an early grasp of math concepts that builds lifelong math success.

Throughout March and April every day at 11:15 am and 2:15 pm, the museum will offer creative approaches to teaching and reinforcing math concepts for preschool to school-aged children, such as using stamps to make a pattern, counting and measuring ingredients to make play dough, learning the basic of fractions with the help of a giant pizza pie, or testing which shapes fly the farthest using a wind machine.

My son loves all things math, so I was thrilled when the museum offered us passes to come try out Mathemania! My family and I visited the Chicago Children's Museum last week and my Mac Kid had a great time making patterns with different stamp shapes. Once he was done exploring patterns and shapes, of course we had to stay and check out the rest of the museum. As always, the water room, climbing area, fire safety space and tinker lab were big hits! Next time you visit the museum with your kiddos, be sure and stop by Mathemania!
