Mac Kid Review: Cinema Sacrifice Theater

July 29, 2016
I used to love watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 and would crack up constantly as Joel/Mike and the robots mocked B movies! So imagine my delight when I found out there was a theater group who puts on a monthly show skewering bad movies LIVE!

The last Tuesday of every month, Cinema Sacrifice Theater picks a new bad movie for their actors to make fun of in front of a live audience. My husband and I headed over to the Public House Theater earlier this week for this month's Cinema Sacrifice Theater offering, Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway, starring Eve Plumb. Yes, Jan Brady! Made in 1976 for TV, this was clearly Jan's, I mean Eve's, attempt to loosen up her goody-goody Brady Bunch image.

In the movie she plays Dawn, a 15 year old who runs away to LA and ends up turning to prostitution to support herself. It's so 70's, so cheesy and so bad it's good once the Cinema Sacrifice Theater actors get a hold of it! Along with the rest of the crowd, my husband and I laughed until we cried at some of the comments and jokes made by the Cinema Sacrifice Theater riffers. This is the only way to watch a bad movie!

There will not be a show in August, but Cinema Sacrifice Theater will pick back up again on September 27 with the 1997 Sci-Fi film, Future Fear!

November's show will feature Christmas themed short movies and the theater will host a can food drive and raffle. A percentage of the proceeds from that performance will benefit Lakeview Pantry.

Cinema Sacrifice Theater is hilarious and makes for a great date night or night out with friends. It is NOT appropriate for anyone under 16! For more information, check out their website, Facebook and Twitter.
