What to do in Case of a CPS Strike

Once again, CPS is considering a strike. But don't worry. Macaroni Kid Chicago will keep you updated on activities for your kiddos when and if school is out!

Academic Support at Lillstreet Art Center - Want to receive academic support and direction in math, reading, and other subjects provided by professional tutors? Students interested in continuing the progression of their studies can bring text books, homework, and any academic questions to knowledgeable tutors for personalized direction and support. $20.

Adventure Days at Brooklyn Boulders - Adventure Days are Brooklyn Boulders’ most popular kids program for ages five through twelve! Packed with a full day of bouldering, top-roping, slack lining, and arts & crafts tol keep your kid engaged all day long! $109

Art Camp at Beauty & Brawn Art Gallery and Think Space - Classes and camps include: Mixed media work, photography, theater, music exploration, dance/hip hop, painting, comicing, bookmaking, yoga/meditation, claywork, screenprinting, drawing, beading, mobile making, daily outdoor playtime (weather permitting) field trips, community art making, visits from guest artists and so much more! $35 - $65 per day.

Art Camp at Easel Art Studio - Should CPS Strike, Easel Art Studio is prepared to provide an ART-astic camp for children age 5-11 for the following days: 10/11, 10/12, 10/13, 10/14. Early Bird Drop-off starting at 8 AM- $10 additional. Full Day Camp: 9 AM-4 PM $90.

Art Camp at Lillstreet Art Center - Explore a variety of materials and ideas in this fun mixed-media camp. Curriculum will include clay projects, painting, printmaking, sculpture and fiber arts. $60 - $65.

Art Camp at One Strange Bird - Your child will explore kids friendly themes in a variety of traditional and non-traditional art materials. Ages 4 - 11. $100.

Art Camp at The Paintbrush - In the event that CPS goes on strike, The Paintbrush will offer drop-off options for kids in elementary school (ages 5+) 9:00-3:00 on Mondays-Thursdays.

Coding Camp at Power Up Tech Academy - Coding Video Games with Scratch (9am-noon)and Minecraft Modding (noon-3pm). Grades 2 - 6. $49 per half-day session.

Cooking Camp at The Kids' Table - Let the learning continue while school is out! Kids will practice and hone cooking skills, learn new recipes, explore the connection between food and health, and discover how delicious real food can be. Because cooking is a basic life skill. And we are what we eat. 4 - 11 year olds. $40.50 - $90.

Dance Camp at Dovetail Studios - Music with Music Alive!, hip hop, art, author studies, play time at Horner Park, movies (kid appropriate of course!), and kid fitness. 4 - 8 year olds. $105.00 daily drop-in rate.

Dance Camp at Hubbard Street - One day dance camps that focus on creativity and the techniques that support contemporary dance. Ages 5 - 12. $100.


Fine Arts Camp at Music House - Students spend the hours from 9:00AM- 4:00PM in visual art, music, dance, and theater classes. Ages 3.5 - 13. $75 per day.

Fit Kids Camp at POW! Kids - The kids will participate in a wide range of running, fitness and sports games. Please send your child with: lunch, snacks, water bottle, homework/book and gym shoes. Ages 6 - 13. 8:30AM - 4:30PM. $65.00 (10% discount for siblings)

Jumanji Strike Camp at BookClub Chicago - Create your own life-size Jumanji inspired board game. $75 per day.

Make a Day of It Camps at Wishcraft Workshop - Each day includes multiple art/craft/sewing/building projects, mid-morning snack (provided, nut and/or gluten-free available) and fun+games. Grades K-6 suggested. 9AM - 3PM. $85. Aftercare available for $25.

Musical Theatre Camp at Bughouse Theatre - The programming will resemble the summer adventure camp, exploring themes with art, music, improve and creative drama, but with core academic enrichment added.

Pottery Camp at Kids Clay Room - Children will make and paint clay projects using cookie cutters, stamps, rolling pins and other clay tools. 5 and up. 1/2 Day and Full Day options. $50 - $85 a day. 

School Day Out Program at area YMCAs - The YMCA of Metro Chicago's School Days Out program provides children ages 5-12 with quality supervised activities in a safe and structured environment. Students at five of the seven participating YMCA centers will receive a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack, thanks to a partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. $30 - $65.

Schools Out Camps at area JCCs - Your child will enjoy participating in unique “In-House” programs and dynamic field trips that spark curiosity, foster creativity, and encourage fun! Grades K - 5.

Science Camp at Mad Science of Chicago - Fun day of activities at the Mad Science Lab. Each half day will have a one-hour structured program along with time for you young mad scientists to explore activities on their own. They will also have a snack in the morning and afternoon. Grades K - 6. $60.

Science Day Camp at Kids Science Lab Lincoln Park - Day camp typically has science classes in the morning, snack break, lunch, afternoon playtime, and a third hands-on program to close out the day. $40 - $90 per day.

Soccer Camp at West Loop Soccer Club - WLSC Soccer Camps are a great place for any soccer enthusiast who is looking to improve their skills, work hard, make new friends and have fun! Ages 4 - 12.

Source 4 Strike Camp - Dream Big, Design Dance and Little Linguists Academy are partnering with a variety of programs including Lill Street Art Reach, We Got Game and more to ensure students have a well-rounded and educational experience even when they're not in school. 5 - 14 year olds. $85 per day.

STEM Camp at Kids Stem Studio - Enlighten your child’s day during the school day off and strengthen their skills in STEM learning. This  camp trains the kids to think and work like real scientists, engineers, developers and creative designers. Kids get to work on cool STEM projects, hands-on activities, engage in fun and developing real-world products and digital creation. They also get to take home their creation. $50 - $75.

Strike Camp at 606 Karate - 2 karate classes per day, plus a field trip. Kids should bring their own lunches. $25 per day. Head count needed 24 hours in advance.

Strike Camp at Bit Space - Bit Space will offer themed projects in both our Bits (physical construction) and Bytes (computers) programs. $100 per day.

Strike Camp at Chicago Playpen - The
day includes tutoring in English language arts, Math, Science and fine arts. Grades K - 4. $30 - $45 per day.

Strike Camp at Hyde Park Neighborhood Club - Camp
includes field trips, sports activities, theme days, arts & crafts, recreational games, and other special entertainment. 5 - 14 year olds. $50 - $60 a day.

Strike Camp at Junior Ninja Warriors Chicago -
Your child will take on the Ninja Warrior obstacles throughout the day, as well as having reading time, breaks for lunch, and other fun activities! $240 for 4 day camp.

Strike Camp at Take A Break Playcare -
Free play, movie, tech time (ages 7+), and an art project. Grades K - 8. $50 - $65.

Strike Camp at The WIP Training Center - Some activities that will be included at various points during camp: arts and crafts, family friendly movies, theatre games, games, park time, karaoke, dance parties and much more! K - 8th grade. 8AM - 4PM. $30 a day.

Theatre Camp at Chicago Children's Theatre - CCT will offer drama workshops, dance, group writing, monologues and character studies, storytelling and improv, as well as construction on “story boxes” with a focus on STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) skills. 6 - 10 year olds. $100 per day.

Theatre Camp at Filament Theatre - Participating organizations: Filament Theatre, the National Veteran’s Art Museum and the Chicago Ballet Center. Grades K - 8. $50 per day.

Theatre Camp at Stomp and Shout Chicago - Spend a day with the professional artists at Stomp and Shout Chicago and learn "How To"... DAY 1 - "How To" be a musical theatre triple threat, DAY 2 - "How To" be a rockstar, DAY 3 - "How To" make a story come to life , DAY 4 - "How To" be a theatre Olympian. $150 - $300.

Theatre Camp at The Revival - Enjoy a fun-filled day (9a-3p) of theater games & exercises, outdoor play and more! Optional Late Day (3p-5p) available as a separate "add on." Ages 8 - 12. $50 - $70 per day.
