Enjoy Spring Break with Blue Man Group

April 8, 2017

My Mac Kid has been dying to see Blue Man Group since he was itty bitty! He's seen the billboards around town, the signs on top of cabs, the commercials and has been intrigued by these men with blue faces for a long time. So when I was offered the opportunity to check out the new content in the show, I immediately knew who my date would be!

We headed to the Briar Street Theatre on Halsted and from the moment we stepped into the lobby he was engaged. Blue Man Group is a fully immersive show, and that includes the lobby. Weird pipes and tubes hang from the ceiling. Contraptions on the walls shoot water. There's something interesting everywhere you look.

Once inside the theatre, my son could barely contain himself and every few minutes he'd ask "How much longer????" As the lights began to dim, he squealed "THANK YOU!" and gave me a big kiss. Yep, he was excited.

And the show did not disappoint. It was everything he was hoping for and more. From the drumming to the splattering paint to the giant beach balls, my son (and the whole audience) laughed and clapped and had a blast! My son especially loved the scene where one Blue Man caught marshmallow after marshmallow in his mouth. I thought my Mac Kid was going to fall out of his seat from laughing so hard.

Blue Man Group is a great show for date night or families and as Spring Break just started, I highly recommend it for a family outing this week. Tickets are available from $49-$99 and may be purchased at the Briar Street Theatre by calling the box office at (773) 348-4000; by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 982-2787; at all Ticketmaster ticket centers or via the Internet at http://www.ticketmaster.com/bluemangroup.
