Are you looking for fun things to do with your family this weekend? You’ve come to the right place because Macaroni Kid Chicago is here to help you find your family fun!

Here are five fun things to do with your kids in Chicago this weekend:

1) Pick a Pumpkin in the Park

Locations:

Hamlin Park - 10:00am Saturday, October 6

Union Park - 10:30am Saturday, October 6

Indian Boundary Park Fall Fest - 10:00am Sunday, October 7

Bell Park - 1:00pm Sunday, October 7

Lincoln Park Zoo Fall Fest - 10:00am Saturday and Sunday

Cost: Varies.  Events are FREE to attend, but pricing for attractions and pumpkins will vary.  

What: The Chicago Park District never disappoints when it comes to fun, family friendly, fall events.  From pumpkin patches to festivals and "scary" movies in the park, there is something for kids of all ages.  Chicagoans know too, a little rain does not stop the fun, it just changes the footwear!  Pull on those boots, bring a poncho and go have some outdoor fun!



2) Explore the Peggy Notebaert Museum

Location: 2430 N Cannon Drive, Chicago 60614

Cost: $9 for adults, $6 for children (under 3 are free)

What: The museum offers indoor fun (shhh! and learning!) for visitors of all age.  Highlights include the Butterfly Haven, Hands on Habitat, daily Story Times and the new Dora & Diego - Let's Explore exhibit.  Visit their website to see any special events happening this weekend.



3) Take in a show at StoryTown Improv

Location: 1225 W Belmont, Chicago 60657 

Cost: $10

What: Saturday morning shows at 10:30am for ages 3-10.  From superheroes to undersea adventures, princesses to dinosaurs, Storytown takes you on an interactive, fully improvised adventure! We use your suggestions and ideas to create a different story every week.  Kids design the setting and help shape the story, and our actors, artists, and musicians bring it to life!  When the possibilities are endless, no two stories are ever the same. We’ll see you in Storytown!



4) Home Depot DIY Build Event

Location: 2665 N Halstead Street, Chicago 60614 (Check your local Home Depot for events)

Cost: Free

What: Happening monthly on the first Saturday of the month from 9a - 12p.  Celebrate National Fire Safety Month by building your own model fireboat. All kids get to keep their creation and will receive a certificate, workshop apron and commemorative pin (while supplies last)


5) Fire Prevention Open House 

Location: 558 DeKoven Street, Chicago 60607

Cost: Free

What: COUNTRY Financial, the Chicago Fire Department and the African American Firefighters and Paramedics League are partnering to offer a community open house to kick off Fire Prevention Week (October 7 – 13). Families can learn fire safety tips from the Chicago Fire Department from demonstrations such as how to put out a kitchen fire and how to use a fire extinguisher. “Ask a Firefighter” your questions, try on their gear, and even take a photo with a fire engine and climb aboard for a touch-a-truck experience. Donuts and coffee will be provided while supplies last.  Country FInancial will also be giving away 50 fire extiguishers while supplies last.


6) Sue's Tech Kitchen 

Location: Streets of Woodfield Mall - 601 N Martingale Road, Suite 160, Schaumburg IL 60173

Cost: $8

What: I know, I know - Schaumburg is not in Chicago, but this event is too cool to not mention!  Sue's Tech Kitchen is a pop-up event in Schaumburg that is sure to delight your mouth and mind that empowers kids to engage with tomorrow’s tech and revolutionizes family dining in the process.  Admission includes access to all of the hands-on, interactive exhibits at Sue’s Tech Kitchen, many of which offer tasty snacks and treats!
