Skylanders Academy Season 3

Netflix Premiere September 28th

By Macaroni October 9, 2018

Macaroni Kid Chicago Midtown was recently invited to host a viewing party for the new season of Skylanders Academy on Saturday, September 29th.

I admit, I am new to the Skylanders Academy fan club, but I definitely understand the appeal of the show.  My friend's son is an "expert" on all things Skylanders and was more than happy to host the party AND teach me everything he knows - and I mean everything!  To bring me up to speed we watched the last episode of Season 2 together.  In "Touch of Evil" (Season 2, Episode 13) we find Spyro captured by the evil Strykore, who steals Spyro's light and causes him to turn into his alter ego Dark Spyro.  The first episode of Season 3, appropriately entitled "Power Struggle" we pick up to find Strykore using Dark Spyro as part of his master plan to take over the Skylands.

The moment the opening song came on the children at the party were engrossed to say the least, and I can't blame them.  The storylines are well developed, the animation is nothing short of spectacular and the actors who lend their familiar voices to the show add so much to the characters.  All eyes were on the show until the very end.

After Episode 1 ended they kids immediately got into a deep Skylanders discussion involving books and trading cards as reference materials.  We moved the party outside to take advantage of the last days of summer weather and had a Skylanders dance party before the kids all got to check out their cool Skylanders Academy swag - notebooks, stickers, pencil and pencil cases.  We wrapped up with a delicious cake one of the guests had made, which said, "Skylanders Unite" and had to say goodbye to kids as they were still pondering what would happen next in the second episode.  It was a great time and I am so glad I got to learn so much about the Skylanders Academy show!  Two of the kids even asked me when we were getting together to watch more!

This experience was so much fun and a good reminder that if you get a group together with common interests they will guide and shape the experience into one that is enjoyable and memorable.  We all really appreciated the experience and opportunity to get together.
