Dogsters Doggy Ice Cream & Pup Star Christmas

A Cool Treat for the Entire Family! (Sponsored)

By Sara Yaniga, Macaroni Kid Chicago (Midtown) October 24, 2018

Our sugar-faced lab mix has been a member of our family for eleven years...never just a "pet", Wrigley is known as our first baby.  On her birthday we sing "Happy Birthday", give her presents, and let her take a nap on the forbidden sofa.  Thanksgiving - it's a bowl of turkey, peas, and potatoes and on Christmas Eve "Santa Paws" (yes, we are that corny) comes and fills her handmade stocking with goodies.  She has patiently welcomed two children to the family and readily forgiven us when we skip a walk to the park.  A couple of weeks ago, I was passing out popsicles to my children when I looked over my shoulder to see our dog sitting and patiently looking my way.  As I tossed her a dog biscuit my son said "I wish we could give Wrigley a popsicle too!" and I agreed and promised we would go to the store and find her some.

The very next day we were at the grocery store and found two flavors of Dogsters in the freezer section - Minte Kissably Fresh and Nutly Peanut Butter & Cheese.  We couldn't decide which to buy, so we ended up with both and went straight home to give her one.  Somehow she knew the minute we came in with the grocery bags that there was something for her and was following me closely as I emptied the milk, butter, and bananas from the bag.  Then I pulled out the boxes of Dogsters and she started dancing around like a young puppy again.  My son ripped open a box, Minte Kissably Fresh, and put one down on the ground for her.  The kids were cracking up as they watched her lick and scoot that little cup around the floors.  It was pretty obvious that the new treat was a big hit!

A few days later, as we were walking to school, my son suggested we give her two treats, one of each flavor, as a blind taste test.  I readily agreed, looking for any reason to validate more treats for her and spend time outside on an unseasonably warm October day.  My daughter, dog and I all went outside for a little party.  Popsicles for the humans and Dogsters for Wrigley.  We lined them up, peeled off the tops and let her choose which one she wanted to eat first.  She went back and forth for a while but then settled into the Minte Kissably Fresh until it was nearly gone.  She started to make a move for the second cup, but I decided that one dessert was enough and saved the Nutly Peanut Butter & Cheese for another day.

We were so happy to have the opportunity to try the Dogster Ice Cream Style Treats for Wrigley.  Made in the U.S.A., low fat and contains no artificial flavors or colors.  The ingredient list is short and includes things like "cheese" and "peanut butter" instead of a long list of words I can barely pronounce, much less know what they are exactly.  They made an old dog very happy and since they are an affordable special indulgence I am sure we will continue to buy them for her.  Also, as a special treat for you, Dogsters & Puppy Star Christmas, are joining forces this holiday season and will give away FREE pet feeding mats* with each purchase of Dogsters Ice Cream Style Treats.

Puppy Star Christmas, from Air Bud Entertainment, is the exciting family movie set to launch this holiday season on Netflix!  Debuting on November 20th, this movie is a musical adventure full of all things hard to resist like singing dogs, dancing reindeer and a story which embraces the true spirit of the holidays and spending time with your loved ones.  Here is a peek at the trailer:
