🦃 Raddish Kids Encourages the Spirit of Giving

Free Holiday Meal Plan for You!

By Sara Yaniga November 8, 2018

Growing up my family had a "more the merrier" policy when it came to the holidays.  While we did not have much family living nearby, my childhood memories are of meals and parties with many close friends surrounding us.   This is a tradition my husband and I decided to embrace long before we had children and it has been something to look forward to annually as we wrap up one year and prepare for the next.

Created with food and family at the heart of everything it does, Raddish is a monthly cooking club for kids, ages 4-14, who embrace an edible education.  Each month families who subscribe will receive laminated recipe guides, complete grocery list, a quality kitchen tool and more!

This month, Raddish has made gathering with loved ones a little bit sweeter!  During the month of November you can download a FREE meal plan from them and as a "thank you" they will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity.  Their FREE #GatherforGood meal plan contains everything you need to prepare a gathering with loved ones.  You will receive

The free "Gather for Good" kit is a step-by-step guide on how to host the Gather for Good Family Dinner. It includes the following:

  • pre-made invitations
  • shopping list
  • table cards to color and set out as table decorations
  • recipes (yes, they are easy enough for kids to make, but delicious enough for adults to enjoy)
  • Family Gratitude games
  • Table Talk cards to spark up a conversation
  • Photo props to help spread the word about #GatherforGood

My son wanted to host his own party so we invited over six of our friends and got to work.  First up was the grocery store where we purchased all of the items needed for the menu items.  Some things were already in our pantry, but we did need to buy the majority of the food.  Our bill came to approximately $50 and it was enough for 4 adults and 8 children to enjoy.  Normally going to the grocery with my son is a chore that is bordering on torture, but he was so excited to be hosting his own party that he really owned the task.  It was a great lesson in preparing before buying, looking at prices and quantities.  We also prepared some of the dishes in advance so they could be warming up in the oven while our guests worked on preparing the remaining dishes together.  It was so much fun to discover how enjoyable cooking with my son was and how much he enjoyed it as well.  The measuring was probably his favorite as he loves math and it was a great way to teach fractions to him!

The next morning he was so excited for his party that he got dressed and ready for the day without me having to say a word - I was shocked!  As soon as our first guests arrived they got straight to cooking!  The kids really worked together to make this party so much fun and it was so nice to watch.  I also had a great time getting to catch up with the kids and grown-ups that came to our party.  It was also more relaxing than parties in the past where I would work feverishly to have everything ready before the first guest showed up.  I am hoping to host another #GatherforGood party this month because it truly was so much fun!

These ladies were all about the cheeseball until the kids discovered how tasty it was and devoured it before we could move it to the table!

We all had so much fun working and eating together and the kids loved learning about Habitat for Humanity, asking each other what they are grateful for and just having a great day together!
