Pete the Cat Reminds Us that Giving is Groovy

New Release โ€œ12 Groovy Days of Christmasโ€

By Macaroni Kid Chicago (Midtown) December 19, 2018

America’s favorite storybook feline, Pete the Cat, wants to remind us that Giving is Groovy with his newest release the “12 Groovy Days of Christmas”.

In this NY Times Bestseller, Pete the Cat leads us through his own version of the 12 Days of Christmas song by sharing all of the things he gives to his friends and just how Groovy it feels. Macaroni Kid was honored to share this story in select cities around the country, including right here in Chicago!

Did you know that Pete the Cat is actually inspired by a real-life cat, rescued from a local shelter by author James Dean? In the spirit of giving Macaroni Kid Chicago partnered with the Anti-Cruelty Society and held a free story and craft time at Barbara’s Bookstore in downtown Chicago.  Children were entertained with a reading/singing of the “12 Groovy Days of Christmas” and then helped make catnip toys for our feline friends in our local shelter.  A few of our families who attended even donated treats and food for the cats at the Anti-Cruelty Society too.

If you are looking for a community project to do with your family, class or scout troop the Anti-Cruelty Society’s website has some great projects that are fairly simple to do for all ages.  They also have programs that allow volunteers of all ages to lend a hand.

Macaroni Kid Chicago would like to thank our local bookstore for being gracious hosts for our story & craft time.  You can find 6 Barbara’s Bookstores located around the Chicagoland area, including the new location at Hawthorne Mall
