Picnickers in White Take Over Grant Park Music Festival

Annual Pop-Up Picnic, Pastoral Picnic in White

By Sara Yaniga, Macaroni Kid Chicago (Midtown) July 26, 2019

WHEN:  Saturday, July 27

6:00 – 7:15 p.m. Pastoral Picnic in White

7:30 p.m. Concert Begins

WHERE:  Millennium Park, The Jay Pritzker Pavillion

The Festival’s Pastoral Picnic in White is inspired by the French phenomenon that began in 1988 when friends gathered for an outdoor dinner party at the Bois de Boulogne and dressed in white so they could see each other in the dark. Now and every year, thousands of people gather in Paris, as well as other cities in Europe, Canada, and throughout the United States, to join in these elegant pop-up dinner parties. There is no “right way” to participate – simply, dress in white from head to toe, add a white tablecloth, a group of friends, and be ready for a night of magic and music.

No registration required; participants must provide their own food and picnic supplies.  Please allow extra time to move through security points entering the performance area.
