Free Admission and Special Events in February

By Sara Yaniga, Macaroni Kid Chicago (Midtown) February 7, 2020

If you are looking for ways to learn and celebrate Black History Month with your family, then look no farther than The Field Museum!

Reda Brooks, who is the project leader for BHM at The Field Museum, said:

"Black History Month's aim is to provide examples of African and African American achievements.  Good, fun stories about people that look like children of color and have our images, with inspiring plots describing people and their perseverance or accomplishments, feed the imagination and spirit of any reader as well as listeners.  Including stories about Black people at all times is important, but especially during Black History Month because it's a time when visitors are looking to engage in these narratives.  Just like shopping for Christmas presents in December, making resolutions in January or fireworks in July, etc."

Events and programs have been developed to appeal to visitors of all ages, from guest lecturers to daily story times in the Crown Family PlayLab and as an added bonus, Illinois Residents can get in FREE the entire month of February! (Basic Admission Only).
