A Note from Your Publisher

Summer 2021

By Sara Yaniga, Macaroni Kid Chicago (Midtown) May 30, 2021

Dear Macaroni Kid Chicago Community -

It is hard to believe that summer is upon us, especially if you only go by the recent weather, but at least today the sun is shining!  I wanted to take a minute to connect because I have decided to move our newsletter day from Saturday to Sunday.  As the city begins to open and return to a version of "normal" with events like festivals, sporting events and in-person summer camps being scheduled I think it will be beneficial to be able to plan the upcoming week as early as possible. The event calendar will continue to be updated throughout the week, so be sure to bookmark it and check back regularly.  Businesses can also continue to submit their free and low-cost events for FREE using this link

I am also so pleased to be able to share this year's Summer Camp Guide with you.  Online and virtual programs are still an option, but in-person camps are back!  We continually update the guide as programs are finalized - so be sure to check it out.  With the updated school calendar from Chicago Public Schools summer has shortened by a week for many of our families, so planning will help us make the most of our days.

You may have noticed that we have an all new logo that represents our new relationship with CertifiKID.  CertifiKID has proven a valuable resource for finding family fun, at great discounts, in and around Chicago.  Be sure to check out some of their current offers for activities, events and camps today!

In case you haven't heard, we have had a new publisher join us in Chicago!  Debra Flanagan has created a newsletter for our Northside Chicago community - focusing on what is happening in the areas such as Andersonville, Lincoln Square and more!  Stay tuned and subscribe to her newsletter to be one of the first to know what is happening on the on the north side.

Are you interested in learning about becoming a publisher for Macaroni Kid?  We are growing in the Chicagoland area and are looking for parents like you! Contact me at if you have any questions.

Wishing you all a safe Memorial Day - enjoy the sunshine we have been given for our final days of May 2021!
