Let's Go to the Movies!

First Drive-In Movie Theatre in City of Chicago

By Sara Yaniga, Macaroni Kid Chicago (Midtown) June 13, 2020

A trip to the drive-in theatre as a kid was a treat I only got to experience a few times before we saw it torn down to make room for a new neighborhood.  I actually never thought my own kids would get to experience the fun of watching a movie from your car, preferably in your comfiest of pajamas and with loads of snacks!  Now, thanks to ChiTown Futbol in Pilsen, we get to do just that!

ChiTown Futbol has served Chicago for twenty years, providing soccer, fitness, food, drinks and fun at their Throop Avenue location, which is easily accessible from many neighborhoods.  ChiTown Movies is the newest extension of its mission to offer positive recreation and entertainment opportunities to Chicagoans.

Owner Bryce Bowman notes, "With all that the City of Chicago has experienced over the past few months, our ChiTown Futbol Team wanted to invest in our community and offer a new entertainment option accessible to everyone.  We believe that a nostalgia-filled drive-in movie experience offers a way for families and friends to enjoy a night out while continuing to adhere to social distancing and other local guidelines.  We look forward to welcoming people from all over Chicagoland to experience a movie at our brand new drive-in theater."

ChiTown Movies will be open every night throughout the summer with more blockbusters and classic movies coming soon. Each movie will run Tuesday through Monday nights and you can order popcorn, drinks, wings, or tacos from your car and listen to the film on your FM radio.  To see which movies are playing now, or what is coming up - please visit www.ChiTownMovies.com.  Tickets are $33 per vehicle (5 adults max) and parking spots are assigned.  Movies will show, even in the event of rain. No refunds.
