The Sun Will Come Out!

3 Chances Left to See Annie in Chicago

By Sara Yaniga, Macaroni KID Chicago February 22, 2023

Holding onto hope when times are tough can take an awful lot of determination, and sometimes, an awful lot of determination comes in a surprisingly small package. This cast and story have been delighting Chicago audiences for over a week and there are just a few more chances to see Annie on stage at the Cadillac Palace theatre before the final performance on March 19, 2023.

Local Annie Jr performers were even treated to a live zoom conversation with Annie cast member, Mark Woodward while in town. It takes a special human to willingly open themselves up to questions from kids, ranging in age from 5 to 8, but Woodward, who portrays wheelchair-bound FDR, was more than ready for the challenge. He chatted about acting, auditioning, and how important practicing is to a performer.

Little Orphan Annie has reminded generations of theatergoers that sunshine is always right around the corner, and now the best-loved musical of all time is set to return in a new production – just as you remember it and just when we need it most. ANNIE, directed by Jenn Thompson, features the iconic book and score, written by Tony Award®-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin. This celebration of family, optimism and the American spirit remains the ultimate cure for all the hard knocks life throws your way.

If you have been waiting for a great, family-friendly show, this is it!

With classic songs like "Tomorrow and "It's the Hard-Knock Life," you will be humming the tunes for days after!

Annie is recommended for ages six and up and has a running time of 2 hours and 30 minutes, including an intermission.
