New Programming for Chicago Families

By Sara Yaniga April 13, 2024

It is with great enthusiasm that City Garden Waldorf School announces children, ages 2 - 6, may now attend their play-based early childhood curriculum five days, three days, or two days per week. The enrollment for the school year beginning September 2024 is open now and applications can be found at www.citygardenschool.com. City Garden is also excited to host an open house to celebrate this new program on Saturday, April 13 from 9-11 a.m. at their school located at 920 W. 19th St. in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood.

In addition to the daily school program, City Garden offers Parent-Child classes on Saturdays for ages 0 - 3. Families will be given an opportunity to meet other families and watch their children enjoy the gift of natural and free play. The program is led by a City Garden teacher. A group snack and story time will also be a part of the morning.

The next session begins Saturday, April 27 and will be held each Saturday through May 25 from 9 -11 a.m. The five-week session is $50 and those interested can register at www.citygardenschool.com/programming.

Founded in 2005 by Jone Hellésoy, City Garden Waldorf School is dedicated to the protection of childhood. Now, more than ever, children need to be given opportunities to immerse themselves in the outdoors, the space to gain confidence through free play and the comfort of a warm and loving environment. Located in the Arts District of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, the school year program offers all of these things and more through a play-based curriculum for children ages 2 - 6 years old. Each classroom is catered to young children in an age-appropriate way, fostering healthy growth – intellectually, physically, and emotionally. The children’s day features indoor and outdoor free play, helping with chores, daily snack preparation, circle time, a story or puppet play told by the teacher, rest and enjoying snacks with classmates and teachers. In most cases, children stay with the same teacher and friends throughout their experience at City Garden, from their entry to school until graduation, cultivating early childhood relationships.
