Mac Kid Review: Disney's Zootopia

June 9, 2016
When my family and I saw Zootopia in the movie theatres a few months ago, we loved it, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share the movie with other Macaroni Fams at a movie screening this past weekend.

We had hoped to host our party outside, but the weather reports kept going back and forth - thunderstorms, no thunderstorms, rain, no rain - so we decided to play it safe and move inside. Thankfully we had the use of Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts) beautiful auditorium for our movie party!

You can't go to a movie and not get snacks, so when our guests arrived they were welcomed with popcorn and Zootopia fruit snacks. Everyone grabbed their goodies and we settled in. From the moment the movie started, everyone was completely engaged. Zootopia has a lot of humorous moments for both kids and adults and a lot of little inside Disney jokes (LOVE that Duke Weaselton in Zootopia is voiced by the same actor who played Duke Weselton in Frozen!), so it's great for audiences of all ages.

As is expected from Disney, the animation is lovely. As the movie explored the metropolis of Zootopia, I was in awe of the colors and details for each part of town!

What I love most about Zootopia though is its positive message of equality, acceptance and following your dreams. We seem to be living in a time where there's a need to point out the "otherness" of people. Zootopia stresses how important our differences are in making the world a more interesting place.

Zootopia is now available on both Digital HD and Blu-ray and is a great addition to your family's movie library!

Disclosure: I received the movie and compensation to facilitate this review, but all opinions are my own.
