Greetings, Macaroni Families! Those of you who have been following Macaroni Kid Chicago for a while now may have noticed my absence over the last 6 weeks or so - sporadic newsletters, not much happening over on social media, just overall pretty quiet on the Mac Kid Chicago front. I know many of you rely on the website and calendar to make plans with your family and I apologize for not being more consistent with my posting lately.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of May, my mother lost her 3.5 year battle with early onset dementia. I've spent some time in TX with family, some time back in Chicago just staring into space and lots of time wondering what I'm supposed to do next. Even at almost 45 (yikes!), a gal still needs her mom and I feel a little lost these days.

However,  I'm not a fan of wallowing so it's time I got back into my regular schedule. So from now on, you can expect your newsletter on time, as well as more info on social media. You can also expect me to share more about working towards a cure for dementia and Alzheimer's.

The last 2 years I've put together a team for the Walk for Alzheimer's. I'm putting together a team again this year with a renewed interest in raising money and helping to find a cure. I want to help prevent other families from going through what we've gone through. I don't want another daughter to lose her 65-year-old mom. I don't want another 7-year-old to lose his grandmother long before he should. Will you join me in this fight? Email me if you'd like to join our team. I look forward to walking with our biggest group yet!

Let's get to work!

I walk for my mom. #endAlz

Peace, love and macaroni,
